He drives mostly on highways, so don’t understand why will this need replacement ? Anything to do with fuel?

I had owned a Seltos for 3 years and 30k kms. In my experience and of the others in the Seltos group, Shell diesel in Seltos tend to give DPF trouble, may be owing to the additives they use. Most of us switched to IOCL or BPCL back then. I could see some of them mentioning Shell at the start of this thread too.

I have a Sonet GTX diesel AT. purchased Dec 25,2022 and currently run 44k kms. Yesterday at exactly 2 year ownership mark it threw the engine management system malfunction indicator.
I always use BPCL fuel only. T2T.
Getting evaluated tomorrow at the ASC for peace of mind. Meanwhile have to return back home and will be driving about 150kms in the same condition.
