After launching BE 6 and XEV 9e in India, Mahindra Auto continues its product offensive in the electric segment with XUV3XO EV. An update to XUV400 is long overdue and is getting a systematic makeover. Latest spy shots of XUV3XO EV have been spotted in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, showing what the production version could look like.

Upping its EV game further, Mahindra is set to launch XUV3XO EV soon. This is the spiritual successor of XUV400 with a massive makeover. Test mules have started to ditch most of their camouflage, revealing that Mahindra is likely to keep design identical to ICE XUV3XO SUV launched in 2024.

The main element to observe is that Mahindra is shrinking the size of this vehicle and bringing it in line with XUV3XO. Hence the probable change in name from XUV400 to XUV3XO EV. These recent spy shots confirm the same. Design will be vastly similar, with just a few unique elements between ICE and EV counterparts.

These design changes are seen in the upper and lower grill of the car’s front fascia, which is still covered in camouflage. There will be less changes at the rear and almost no changes in the sides. As seen with these spy shots from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, wheels are likely to be carried over too.

Same Powertrains Possible

The main concern XUV400 addressed over XUV300 was boot space, which the XUV3XO already fixes. So, Mahindra is keeping dimensions and sheet metal identical to both vehicles, streamlining the production. Even the charging port is carried over, which is present in front left quarter panel.

Mahindra Auto is likely to carry over the powertrains from XUV400, which is not a bad thing. XUV3XO EV might get the same 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh battery packs with a single electric motor driving the front wheels. This motor was rated at 150 PS of peak power and 310 Nm of peak torque. For a sub 4m vehicle, that is a lot of performance.
