Hyderabad: Two persons lost their lives, and 18 others were injured in a road accident on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway near Bureddipalle in Mahabubnagar late Friday night.
The accident, which occurred at around 10.40 pm, involved a private bus travelling from Hyderabad to Arunachalam in Tamil Nadu, when it collided with multiple vehicles. Authorities suspect that overspeeding may have led to the crash.
According to police, the speeding bus first hit a Maruti Ertiga, which was ahead of it. The impact was so severe that one of the Ertiga’s wheels came off. After the initial collision, the bus veered to the left and crashed into a parked car.
The victims who lost their lives have been identified as Noor, 58, a passenger on the bus, and Raju, bus cleaner. Both were pronounced dead at the accident spot. Among the 18 injured, the bus driver sustained serious injuries, but authorities confirmed that none of the injured was in a critical condition.
“We are exploring all possible angles to determine the exact cause of the accident,” said a police official.
