Renault currently has three entry-level models in its Indian product lineup – Kwid hatchback, Kiger subcompact SUV and Triber compact MPV. The French automaker plans to expand its range with two new SUVs and three electric vehicles (EVs) in the next 3-4 years. The third-generation Renault Duster 5 and 7-seater SUVs are scheduled to arrive in 2026, while the Kiger EV and Triber EV will hit roads in fiscal year 2027. The carmaker has also announced an A-segment EV, which is likely to be electric iteration of the Kwid hatchback.
Launch Timeline & Expected Price
According to a latest media report, the Renault Kiger EV and Triber EV will be designed on a dedicated EV platform. Production of the Renault Kiger EV (internally known as Project RJ2K5) will begin in the second half of 2026, and its market launch will take place in early 2027. This electric compact SUV will target mass-market buyers, with price below Rs 15 lakh. The Renault Triber EV will come after the electric Kiger, and it will serve the family car buyers as well as the fleet market.

Locally-Sourced Batteries
The powertrain details are not available at this point. However, the report further states that the French automaker will use the locally sourced batteries for its upcoming affordable EVs. Renault is reported to in discussions with Tata AutoComp. The Renault Kiger EV and Triber EV will also be exported to key overseas markets including South America and South Africa.
Renault Kwid EV For India?
The Renault Kwid EV, which was spotted testing in India last year, might also make its way here. It’s based on the Dacai Spring EV and features a 26.8kWh battery pack and choice of two electric motors. The electric hatchback delivers a WLTP-claimed range of over 220km on a single charge. Its battery takes 45 minutes to get charged from 10 to 80 percent by using a DC fast charger. The globally sold Dacia Spring EV comes with the vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.
