Maruti Suzuki has outlined an ambitious product strategy for the Indian market. The carmaker is all set to begin this year with the launch of its first-ever electric offering – the Maruti and Vitara, which is ready to debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. Additionally, the OEM will also introduce a new flagship SUV based on the Grand Vitara and the updated Fronx with its own strong hybrid powertrain. The carmaker’s long-term plans emphasizes the launch of a new range of SUVs and MPVs, which will arrive by 2028.

Maruti Electric Compact MPV – Kia Carnes EV Fighter

With a focus on affordable and compact UV (utility vehicle) model lineup, the Indo-Japanese automaker is developing an electric compact MPV to challenge the Kia Carens EV. This model is expected to launch in the second half of 2026. Codenamed YMC, the new Maruti electric MPV is likely to be based on the Heartect-e platform that also underpins the upcoming e Vitara.
While specifics about its powertrain are still under the wraps, the new Maruti electric MPV is likely to borrow the 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs from the e Vitara. The smaller battery with a single motor delivers power worth 144bhp, while the larger battery pack with the single and dual motor setups offers 174bhp and 184bhp, respectively. A Toyota derivative of the Maruti YMC electric MPV is also expected to arrive nearly 9 -12 months after Maruti’s version.

Maruti Micro SUV – Punch, Exter Fighter
The Maruti Y43 electric MPV will be followed by an entry-level compact SUV, which will be positioned against the Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch. It’s likely to hit roads in the 2026-27 period. Details of the upcoming Maruti micro SUV are scanty at this point of time. However, it’s expected to come with the Swift’s 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine.
Maruti Compact MPV, Mini SUV
Furthermore, the Indo-Japanese automaker is also working on a sub-4 meter MPV based on the Suzuki Solio. This model will be Maruti Suzuki’s answer to the Renault Triber. That means, it will be an affordable, three-row offering that will share some components with the Solio. In addition, the Indo-Japanese automaker will introduce an SUV based on the Suzuki Hustler. Its expected to feature a tallboy design reminiscent of Kei cars.
