Hyderabad: A 21-year-old girl was allegedly raped in her hostel room by the driver of the building’s owner in Ibrahimpatnam on Wednesday night.
According to police, the survivor is a first-year engineering student of a private college in Ibrahimpatnam.
Police said that at the time of the incident, the survivor was alone in her hostel room, preparing for practical classes scheduled for Thursday.

During that time, she heard a knock at her room door. When she opened it, the accused was there, telling her that he had come to give her a bed sheet. Subsequently, he barged into the room and raped her. When she later raised the alarm, he fled the scene. The police were immediately called and the survivor’s parents were also informed.
Following the survivor’s complaint, a rape case was registered and the girl was sent to the Bharosa centre for medical examination and counselling.
Her statement has also been recorded, said a police official, adding that officials have launched a hunt to arrest the accused.
The police are collecting technical evidence and working on other clues to establish his presence at the scene at the time of the incident.
