Minister prioritises drinking water issues in Kurnool


Kurnool:Industries minister T.G. Bharath has directed the officials to ensure that no water shortages arise during the upcoming summer and emphasised prioritising irrigation projects.

Speaking at a review meeting he held along with district collector P. Ranjit Basha here on Thursday on the development initiatives in the district, Bharath assured that the state government would address these priorities as needed.

The minister instructed the panchayat raj superintending engineer to expedite the completion of pending CC road projects under the Palle Panduga programme. Similarly, the roads and buildings superintending engineer was directed to complete pothole repair works under the Pothole-Free programme without delay. Bharath stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination to achieve development and welfare objectives.

During the meeting, the minister also reviewed progress on commitments made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during his visit to Puchakayalamada. He promised to communicate pending issues to state-level officials and ensure their timely resolution.

Collector Ranjit Basha highlighted the district’s achievements in infrastructure development, noting that Kurnool leads the state with 91 per cent completion of works sanctioned under Palle Panduga. He said 758 of the 830 sanctioned works for CC road construction have already been completed. Additionally, 884 km of the 1,074 km targeted patchwork under the R&B purview have been finished, achieving an 83 per cent completion rate. The collector assured that pothole repairs within the municipal limits would be finalised by the end of January.

The minister directed all stakeholders to maintain focus on timely completion of all ongoing projects to benefit the public.

District SP G. Bindu Madhav, assistant collector Challa Kalyani, DRO P. Venkata Narayanamma, Zilla Parishad CEO Nasara Reddy, R&B superintending engineer Maheshwara Reddy, panchayat raj superintending engineer Ramachandra Reddy and other officials participated in the review meeting.
