100 crore developments announced for Mahbubnagar General Hospital

Hyderabad:Health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha announced on Friday that MRI services at Mahbubnagar General Hospital, facilitated by a newly-acquired ₹10-crore machine, would commence by Ugadi this year. Cardiology, neurosurgery, urology and nephrology services will be available at the hospital.

Stating this during a review meeting here, the minister issued directives to the medical education department. The meeting, attended by MLAs from Mahbubnagar, health officials, and superintendents, focused on improving healthcare services in the district.

The MLAs highlighted the lack of super-specialty services, forcing patients to travel to Hyderabad for treatment. Responding to this, Rajanarsimha assured them of the establishment of super-specialty departments as soon as possible. Officials were instructed to prepare proposals for the development of a medical college, a general hospital, a district hospital, and an area hospital, at an estimated cost of ₹100 crore.

Discussions included setting up sub-centres, primary health centres, and basti dawakhanas based on geographical and demographic considerations. The minister also announced plans to establish dialysis centres according to patient load.

Four new central medicinal storage centres have been established in the district to ensure a steady supply of medicines, monitored by a three-member committee. The minister warned of strict action if shortages arise. He also emphasised punctuality among doctors and staff, cautioning against negligence.
