Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao continued his tirade against the Congress government, accusing it of cheating farmers by not fulfilling the promises made to them before the elections.
He was speaking at a protest organised by the BRS in Shabad on the city outskirts on Friday (January 17). He accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of being a habitual liar and said that this reflected in the six promises made. He claimed that farm loan waiver was a huge disappointment while Rythu Bharosa, too, would be a disappointment owing to the insincerity of the government.
KTR offered to resign if the loans of all the farmers are waived. He said that except the free bus scheme, none of the promises have been implemented. The government owes ₹30,000 to every woman as per the unfulfilled ₹2,500 per month promise. He appealed to women and farmers to question the Congress leaders in the villages.
Bypolls in Telangana
KTR predicted that Telangana would soon see bypolls as the defected BRS MLAs would have to forego their membership and face elections. He questioned the sincerity of the MLAs who left the party and asked whether they had secured development funds for their constituencies, a reason that they had cited while leaving the party.
