Hyderabad: The Indian embassy in Riyadh has assured that assistance will be extended to a worker from Telangana to travel back home as his son may need a bone marrow transplant.
“The embassy will extend all possible assistance for his repatriation,” the embassy said in response to a post on X by Mandha Bheem Reddy, president of Emigrants Welfare Forum, on behalf of the family on Thursday.
Following a representation made by the family to chief minister A Revanth Reddy, the general administration department wrote to the embassy in Saudi Arabia for help. The state govt said in the letter to the embassy and ministry of external affairs that Kukkala Chinna Bheemaiah of Jagtial went to Saudi Arabia to take up a job, but because he overstayed, he became an illegal immigrant.
As his son Kukkala Sunil, 20, who is suffering from cancer and needs a bone marrow transplant, Bheemaiah was informed about it. The govt wrote to the embassy to coordinate with his original employer to settle his issue so that he can be repatriated to Telangana.
In a letter to the CM, Kukkala Ganga Laxmi, wife of Bheemaiah, said as their son needed a bone marrow transplant, Bheemaiah wished to provide for it. As the family also needs finances, Bheemaiah would have to return to sell their house to meet the medical expenditure, she said.
