Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its UV (utility vehicle) product lineup with 9 new models in the next five years. These upcoming Maruti SUVs and MPVs will come with different powertrain options and will be priced between Rs 5 lakh – Rs 30 lakh. In 2025, the Indo-Japanese automaker has planned two major product launches – e Vitara (the brand’s first electric offering) and a flagship 7-seater SUV based on the Grand Vitara. While the midsize electric SUV will go on sale in March, the 7-seater Grand Vitara will see a market release in the second half of 2025.
New Maruti Compact SUV Launch Timeline
The carmaker’s upcoming range will also include an entry-level, compact SUV to challenge the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Codenamed Y43, the micro SUV is expected to arrive during 2026 festive season.
New Maruti Compact SUV: Engine
Details of the model are not available at this point of time. However, it’s expected to use the Swift’s 1.2L Z-Series petrol engine with the mild hybrid technology. This means the new Maruti mini SUV will deliver impressive mileage. In the Swift, the Z-Series petrol engine offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.8kmpl – 25.75kmpl.
Similar to its hatchback sibling, the new Maruti micro SUV could be offered with both manual and AMT gearbox option. The petrol engine pushes out a maximum power of 82bhp and 112Nm of torque. These figures are expected to remain unchanged if the micro SUV comes with the Z-Series engine.
New Maruti Compact SUV: Features
Similar to Maruti Suzuki’s new breed SUVs, this compact SUV could be packed with several advanced features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a flat-bottom steering, push button start/stop, six airbags and more. Features such as a 360 degree camera, HUD, a sunroof and ventilated seats might also be on offer.
New Maruti Compact SUV: Expected Price Range
The forthcoming Maruti compact SUV is expected to be priced aggressively against the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter, which are currently available within the price range of Rs 6.13 lakh – Rs 10.32 lakh and Rs 6 lakh – Rs 10.50 lakh (all, ex-showroom), respectively.
