
Vijayawada railway station has obtained the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification for implementing the best hygiene and safe food practices.

The Vijayawada railway station has bagged the prestigious ‘Eat Right Station’ certification from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for implementing the best hygiene and safe food practices.
Four more railway stations —Annavaram, Guntur, Nadikudi and Hyderabad (Nampally)— have bagged the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification in the South Central Railway (SCR) Zone, the railway officials said on Friday.
Vijayawada railway station secured more than 85% marks in the certification process and achieved the ‘5 Star Exemplary Standard Eat Right Station’ certification.
The ‘Eat Right Station’ certification is issued by the FSSAI to railway stations for adhering to standard food storage and hygiene practices, apart from providing high-quality, nutritious food to the passengers.
The FSSAI grants the certification after verifying several parameters such as food safety, hygiene standards, personal hygiene of vendors, protective gear, expiry dates of food products, temperature control, garbage disposal, segregation of wet and dry waste, said Railway Hospital Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) M. Sowribala.
Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager Narendra A. Patil congratulated Dr. Sowribala, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Vavilapalli Rambabu, Station Director M. Sailaja, Divisional Commercial Manager Md. Ali Khan, members of the catering and commercial team of the Vijayawada Railway Division for the achievement.
