Tata Sierra EV, Petrol, Diesel: Interior, Design, Range, Battery

Tata Sierra is the showstopper at Tata’s pavilion at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. The carmaker has showcased both electric and ICE (internal combustion engine) versions of the SUVs, and confirmed that the Sierra EV will go on sale in the second half of 2025. The SUV’s ICE version is expected to arrive sometime next year. While electric model has been designed on Tata’s Gen2 EV platform, the ICE version underpins the all-new ATLAS (Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle) architecture.

  3. The Sierra petrol and diesel will use the 1.5L and 2.0L engines, respectively.

Tata Sierra EV: Battery, Range

The carmaker remains tight-lipped about the Sierra EV’s specifications. Though, the electric SUV is likely to be offered with multiple battery packs (ranging from 60kWh to 80kWh), and single and dual electric motor configurations. The dual electric motor variants might get the AWD (all-wheel drive) system as an option. The Sierra EV range is expected to around 500km on a single charge.

Tata Sierra: Engine

The ICE-powered Tata Sierra will come with two engine options – 1.5L Hyperion turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel. The T-GDI petrol motor, borrowed from the Harrier and Safari SUVs, pushes out a peak power of 168bhp and 280Nm of torque. The turbocharged diesel unit generates a maximum power of 168bhp and a maximum torque of 350Nm. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

The Sierra retains some OG design elements, while featuring an all-new front fascia. The electric SUV features a closed-off grille, trapezoidal LED headlamps, a full-width LED strip, a pronounced skid plate and a large sporty bumper. The side profile appears boxy and rugged with thick body cladding and squared wheel arches. The large alloy wheels, big glass area between C and D-pillars, flush door handles, and full-width LED taillamps add more to its new looks. It measures around 4.3-4.4 meters in length.

The Sierra has a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and a twin-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo. While the showcased model has the 5-seats configuration, the SUV is reported to be offered with 5-seats (rear bench seat) and 4-seater lounge versions. The Lounge variant will have independent seats at the rear with electric adjustment feature. As a premium lifestyle SUV, the Sierra will be packed with the several advanced features such as a large sunroof, individual screens for the rear occupants, Level 2 ADAS and more.
