CM determined to make AP clean state: Housing min

Vijayawada: Housing, information and public relations minister Kolusu Parthasarathy has appealed people to take active role in achieving Swachh Andhra Pradesh. He said that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is determined to make AP a clean state with active support of the people.
Parthasarathy said that protection of environment is one of the top priorities of state govt. He had participated in the Swachh Andhra-Swachh Divas program organised at Thukkulur village of Nuzvid mandal on Saturday. Local MPDO Chenna Raghavendranath coordinated the event across the mandal by organising Swachh rallies and cleaning of habitations and govt offices in about 50 places.
Addressing the gathering in Tukkulur, the housing minister said that cleanliness should be the way of life of the people and that, Swachh Andhra-Swachh Diwas would be organised regularly on the third Saturday of every month across the state.
Asserting that people’s participation is essential to make the programme a success, Parthasarathy said, “Villages used to be very clean, green with clean air in the past. However, with an increase in population, the amount of garbage is increasing, thereby, affecting the health of people. We want people to pledge to keep their surroundings clean so that we can bring the golden past back.”
The housing minister added that due to negligence of previous govt, 85 lakh metric tons of garbage accumulated across the state. He said that chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s determination helped state govt to clear the massive garbage left by previous govt within no time.
Parthasarathy continued saying that the CM has taken up constructive programs to create a good and healthy environment for the people. He said that people’s participation is necessary to keep habitats clean. He urged people not to litter on roads and public places as it would be extremely difficult for govt to keep it clean. He urged everyone to become Swachh Sevak in making their neighbourhood clean.
The housing minister also directed the officials to promptly resolve the issues raised by people in the municipality and panchayats regarding sanitation management.
Later, MPDO Chenna Raghavendra Nath said that they have cleaned almost all govt offices including the village secretariats on Saturday. He added that they would strictly follow the instructions of the minister and maintain cleanliness in the mandal.
Mandal parishad president Arepalli Sireesha, Tukkulur sarpanch Thommandru Bujji, ZP CEO K Subbarao, DLPO Sundari, DLDO Venkatarao, local public representatives, officers, staff and local residents participated.
