Mumbai: Former Indian player Sunil Gavaskar has explained why Rishabh Pant got a place in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy. Gavaskar told a sports media that Rishabh Pant is truly a ‘game changer’ and that is why the in-form Sanju has been left behind. Rishabh Pant and K.L. Rahul is India’s wicketkeeper in the Champions Trophy.

“It will be very difficult for a player like Sanju who scores hundreds of runs. No reason can be given for Sanju’s dismissal. But Sanju Samson fell in front of the game changer Rishabh Pant. And the ball is a left handed batsman. He is also a good wicket keeper.

“Maybe Rishabh Pant is not a better batsman than Sanju Samson. But Rishabh Pant might be able to change the game a little better than Sanju. That is why Sanju was left out of the team. But Sanju need not despair. Because Indian fans know very well how much Sanju’s achievements are.”- Gavaskar responded.
