The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) board on Saturday approved key proposals which include setting up new bus depots and stations. In addition to this, the board also approved the expansion of existing TGSRTC infrastructure.

Two new bus depots — one at Peddapalli, in the eponymous district, at a cost of ₹11.7 crore, and the other at Eturunagaram in Mulugu district at cost of ₹6.28 crore — have been approved.

Four new bus stations — one each in Mulugu at an estimated cost of ₹5.11 crore, Huzurnagar at an estimated cost of ₹3.75 crore, Madhira in Khamman district at a cost of ₹10 crore, and Mangapet in Mulugu district at an estimated cost of ₹51 lakh — have been approved. Bus stations at Kodad in Suryapet district and Kaleshwaram in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district have also been approved.

The TGSRTC board also approved the expansion of the existing bus station in Manthani in Peddapalli district.

Commenting on these decisions, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that the Telangana government has been focusing on improving public transport infrastructure as well as the procurement of new buses. He directed officials to accelerate the projects that were approved. He said that this would enhance passenger experience.
