Hyderabad: Five members of a family, including three children, were killed in a road accident in Adilabad district late on Monday night. The accident occurred at around 11 pm in Gudihathnoor mandal when the car in which they were travelling overturned after hitting cement poles.
The family was returning to Adilabad after attending a function in Hyderabad. According to police, the driver might have dozed off at the wheel, lost control while taking a turn on the highway and crashed into the poles.
The deceased have been identified as Moizuddin, 67, his son-in-law Moinuddin, 43, and three grandchildren—Mohammad Ali, 5, Usmanuddin, 8, and Fareeduddin, 14.Moizuddin and Mohammad Ali died on the spot, while the other three passed away in hospital.
Three others — Moinuddin’s wife Ayesha, 36, and two of their children—Saduddin, 13, and Ikra Fatima, 4—escaped with injuries.
A senior police officer said overspeeding led to the accident.
