The globally renowned Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacture, VinFast has finally marked its India debut with two electric SUVs – VF7 and VF6. Both these EV are likely to launch in India, although their launch timeline is yet to be revealed. The VinFast VF7, a midsize electric SUV, is expected to arrive in the second half of 2025, with at an estimated starting price of Rs 30 lakh. It’s likely to challenge the Mahindra XEV 9e and BYD Atto 3 in India. Here’re all key details of this new VinFast electric SUV.
VinFast VF7: Design & Dimensions
Dimensionally, the VF7 measures 4,545mm in length, 1,890mm in width and 1,636mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,840mm. It’s slightly larger than the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara, and slightly smaller than the Tata Harrier. This electric SUV has been designed to attract young urban buyers, featuring modern design elements such as LED headlamps and DRLs, wide bonnet, aggressively designed bumper, sharp creases, sporty alloy wheels, flush door handles, round wheel arches with gloss black finish, body cladding, shark fin antenna, connected LED taillamps and a roof mounted spoiler.
VinFast VF7: Interior & Features
While its exterior design is modern, the interior is more practical. It has dual-tone interior theme with a larger 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system placed just above the horizontal AC vents. The AWD variants get a bigger 15-inch info unit. The centre display, which also functions as the instrument cluster, is oriented towards the driver. The new VinFast electric SUV also comes with a flat-bottom steering wheel, HUD (head-up display), a panoramic sunroof, a 360 degree camera, ambient lighting, electronic stability programme, connected car tech, ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and up to 8 airbags.
VinFast VF7: Battery, Range, Charging Time
The showcased model features a 75.3kWh battery pack paired to an electric that’s good enough for 204PS and 310Nm. It can also be had with the dual motor configuration, offering power worth 354PS and 500Nm of torque. While the single motor version gets FWD (front-wheel drive) system, the dual motor variant comes with the AWD (all-wheel drive) setup. The VF7 claimed range is 431km.
The new VinFast electric SUV is compatible to both Level 2 AC charging and Level 3 DC fast charging. By using a 11kW onboard charger, the EV runs nearly 31 miles per hour. It takes just 55 minutes to get charged from 10 to 70 percent via a DC fast charger. In its higher spec version, the VF7 achieves a maximum speed of 175kmph.
