CITU Visakhapatnam district general secretary R.K.S.V. Kumar on Sunday (January 19) demanded that BJP leader P.V.N. Madhav withdraw his remarks on the Left parties on the issue of RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
In a press release, Mr. Kumar said that Mr. Madhav has neither participated in any protest against the privatisation of the steel plant nor expressed his solidarity with the protesters, who are on a relay hunger strike at the steel plant main gate over the past 1,400 days.
He does not know the pain of the workers and trade union leaders over the current miserable condition of the steel plant.
“However, Mr. Madhav recently insulted the Left parties and their leaders by saying that these parties are not sincere in their fight for the protection of the steel plant. Mr. Madhav’s words are completely untrue. He should take back his words. He should watch his mouth, otherwise the situation will be different. If he fails to do so, strict action will be taken,” Mr. Kumar said.
Mr. Kumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Visakhapatnam twice so far, but he did not make any announcement about rolling back the decision to privatise the steel plant.
