A mela would be held for the interested to open Sukanya Samriddhi accounts at the post offices in Visakhapatnam on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on January 24.
As per this scheme, the parents of girl child, below 10 years, can open a bank account on their daughter’s name and can deposit any amount between ₹250 and ₹1.5 lakh in a year. Senior Superintendent of Postal Department Visakhapatnam division Gajendra Kumar Meena said the deposits under the scheme will get more interest than any other scheme.
