Tata Nexon Dominance Soon To Be Challenged By A New SUV!

Tata Nexon has been India’s top-selling SUV for three consecutive financial year – FY2022, FY2023 and FY2024. This sub-4 metre SUV has always been favoured for its compact styling, multiple powertrain options, and several variants catering wide range of customers. Furthermore, it’s the first car in India to receive 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. The market dominance of the Tata Nexon will soon be challenged by a new SUV coming from Kia India – the Syros. The South Korean automaker is all set to announce prices of the Kia Syros on 1st February 2025.

The Kia Syros is a premium sub-4 metre SUV, offering best-in-segment cabin space, flexibility and features. Right from its base variants, you get features such as a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4.2-inch MID, rear view camera with dynamic guidelines, C-Type USB charger at front and rear, front passenger adjustable headrests, day and night interior IRVM, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear AC vents and semi-leatherette seats.

Sunroof, ADAS & More!

The buyers’ favourite feature, the sunroof, is available from the second base variant along with the driver seat heigh adjust and 16-inch alloys. The higher trims comes with a host of advanced fitments such as an 8-speaker Harman Kardon system, Kia Connect 2.0 in-car connectivity suite, 5-inch touchscreen for climate control, a 12.3-inch HD MID, air purifier with AQI display, rear ventilated seats, OTA updates, wireless phone charger, four way powered driver seat adjust, dual-tone leatherette seats, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring system, a 360 degree camera and Leve 2 ADAS suite.

Turbocharged Engines

Powering the new Kia Syros will be the familiar 1.0L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines, delivering 120bhp with 172Nm and 116bhp with 250Nm, respectively. Both powertrains are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the 7-speed DCT automatic and 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmissions are available only with the petrol and diesel variants, respectively.

At present, the Tata Nexon is available within the price range of Rs 8 lakh – Rs 15.50 lakh. The Kia Syros as a premium subcompact SUV is expected to cost around Rs 9.70 – Rs 10 lakh for the base variant, and its top-end variant is estimated to be priced around Rs 16.50 lakh.
