Unilever, a global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company operating as Hindustan Unilever in India, has announced plans to set up two manufacturing units in Telangana. The units would include a palm oil facility and refining unit in Kamareddy district.
This development marks the first agreement secured by the ‘Telangana Rising’ delegation, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, at the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual conference 2025 in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday (January 21, 2025). Mr. Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu convinced Unilever CEO Hein Schumacher to set up the units.

During their meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted Telangana’s extraordinary locational advantages, including its strategic position as a gateway and bridge to several States in southern, eastern, western, and central India. He also emphasised the State’s advantages in supply chain and logistics manufacturing, as well as its huge consumption-driven market, ease of doing business, and progressive policies.
In response, the Unilever CEO announced plans to set up a palm oil facility and refining unit in Telangana, with the support of the State government. Additionally, the Unilever team agreed to set up a new manufacturing unit for producing bottle caps, which will help reduce the company’s reliance on imports.
Welcoming Unilever to Telangana, the Chief Minister said, “We are here to fully support the major entry and growth of Unilever in our State. We must grow together, but without losing sight of larger sustainability and fairness goals for people and the planet.l”.
Jayesh Ranjan, special chief secretary, IT and Industries, V. Seshadri, principal secretary, Chief Minister’s Office, E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, special secretary (Investment Promotion), and B. Ajith Reddy, special secretary to Chief Minister, were present.
