A 15-year-old physically challenged girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 50-year-old person at Bheemunipatnam on Tuesday (January 21). The incident came to light on Wednesday after the police registered an FIR following complaint from the girl’s parents.
Inspector of Bheemunipatnam Police Station G. Sudhakar said that the incident reportedly occurred during the absence of the girl’s parents.
B. Yella Reddy allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl, when her parents have left for work. After coming to know about the incident, the girl’s parents lodged a police complaint.
The accused was arrested and sent in remand on Wednesday, the Inspector said. Relevant cases were registered and POCSO Act was invoked.
Home Minister V. Anitha said that steps would be taken to ensure that the accused get strict punishment. She said that the State government will provide all help to the victim girl and her family.
