The 43rd State conference of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) would be held from January 24-26 on the Andhra University Grounds.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Former MLC P.V.N. Madhav, who is also the general secretary of the State Conference Reception Committee, said the meeting is being held in Visakhapatnam after a gap of 21 years. He said 2,500 ABVP leaders would attend the meeting and asked people of the city to give a warm welcome to the delegates. Mr. Madhav said they, as student union leaders, have learnt discipline and patriotism from ABVP.

He said an impressive Shobha Yatra will be taken out by the ABVP activists from the North Coastal Andhra on January 25 in the city.

ABVP State secretary S. Yachandra said the ABVP, which was founded in Delhi University in 1949, now has a membership of more than 57.87 lakh and is one of the biggest student unions in the world. He said the conference would pass resolutions on the failure of the six-month government to fulfil the promises made to the education sector.

Mr. Yachandra said this year’s Yuva Puraskar would be given to a social activist Shaik Syed Shahnawaz during the conference. Noted industrialist Challa Rajendra Prasad will be the chief guest for the inaugural of the conference.
