Clarity sought on NEET PG counselling

Visakhapatnam: It is illegal to conduct NEET PG counselling for Andhra Pradesh medical students without specifying the fees and determining the fee structure, the parents’ association of AP has alleged. In a letter to the governor and chief minister, the association’s honorary president and advocate, M Kota Reddy, said the govt has not clarified the fees, yet NTR University has proceeded with NEET PG counselling.
“We request that immediate action be taken after a comprehensive investigation. According to GO-56 issued by the previous govt, the fee for B category NEET seats in private medical colleges is Rs 10 lakh per year, which totals Rs 30 lakh over three years,” said Reddy.
“With GO-56 revoked, the fees for medical PG courses might increase, burdening the students. We request immediate action from govt to protect the students from this financial strain. If fees increase drastically, only wealthy students will have access to higher medical education. This will further plunge poor students into debt, and some meritorious students might lose the opportunity to pursue medical education,” he said.
