Former Minister and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao participating in the Gram Sabha held at Gadicherlapalli in Siddipet town on Wednesday.
Former Minister Harish Rao alleged that people were being forced to reapply during Gram Sabhas, even after submitting applications through public governance programs and MeeSeva, to cut down the welfare measures creating confusion among the applicants.
Participating in the Gram Sabha held at Gadicherlapalli in Siddipet town, he criticized the government for failing to digitize or act on earlier applications, creating unnecessary duplication and wasting public resources. He also said that inefficiency and neglect of crucial welfare schemes have left the people of Telangana struggling with unmet expectations.
Rejecting the government’s claims of completing the loan waiver scheme, he highlighted the plight of several farmers in Gadicherlapalli, including Aakula Raju, who has a ₹1.35 lakh loan pending, and Kusumba Nagesh, who has a ₹1 lakh loan, neither of whom have received waivers. He shared the struggles of Utha Balayya, who paid ₹13,000 to the bank as instructed, and Marige Sudhakar, who paid ₹25,000, but both are still waiting for waivers.
Expressing anguish over the recent suicides of three farmers in Telangana, he called for the immediate release of ₹15,000 under Rythu Bandhu for both Kharif and Rabi seasons, as promised during elections. “The Congress government promised to build 5 lakh houses annually, but a year has passed, and not a single house has been constructed.”
Mr. Harish Rao reminded that in 2014, K. Chandrasekhar Rao increased the income limits significantly to make more families eligible. The rural income limit was increased from ₹60,000 to ₹1.5 lakh, and the urban limit was raised from ₹75,000 to ₹2 lakh. However, the Congress government has continued using these same limits in 2024, ignoring the need for further revisions.
Directing sharp criticism at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao said, “Before elections, he promised prosperity, but after elections, all we see are betrayals.
