A 24-year-old youth, who attended the ongoing police constable selection examination being held at AR Grounds at Kailasagiri here on Wednesday, died while participating in the preliminary physical test.
The youth was identified as K. Venkata Sravan Kumar (24) from Old Dairy Farm, Ravindra Nagar in the city.
Anakapalli Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that Sravan Kumar had attended the 1,600-metre run which was organised as part of Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET), where he fell unconscious. He was immediately given first-aid by a team of doctors present at the spot. Later, he was rushed to Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) in an ambulance and further again to a corporate hospital for advanced treatment. However, the youth breathed his last during the afternoon, the SP said.
