‘Don’t interfere in TTD ex-chief’s land dispute’

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court directed Gachibowli police not to interfere in the civil dispute over an ongoing land issue between former TTD chairperson YV Subba Reddy and the opposite party. Both claim ownership of the same 5.04-acre land located at Kondapur, Hyderabad.
Cases were registered by Gachibowli police against both parties a few days ago. Alleging that YV Subba Reddy is an influential person and might influence the cops to act against them, the opposite party moved the high court. Justice B Vijaysen Reddy, issuing the directions, said that police can proceed with the investigation but should not interfere in the civil disputes between both parties.
Appearing for the petitioners Shaik Islamuddin and two others, senior counsel Vedula Venkataramana urged the court to pass a positive order directing the police not to interfere in the civil disputes. “Subba Reddy and his wife Swarna Latha Reddy, who are highly influential persons, may prevail upon the police and higher officials and dispossess the petitioners from the property,” alleged the counsel.
Senior counsel K Vivek Reddy, appearing for Subba Reddy and his wife Swarna Latha Reddy, submitted that his clients have title over the property by virtue of registered sale deeds, but the petitioners do not have any registered documents. “They are claiming ownership based on a court order to which they are not even parties,” he informed the court.
The govt pleader for home informed the court that a case and counter case had already been registered at Gachibowli Police Station in the matter and except for conducting an investigation, police have neither interfered in the civil disputes between the petitioners and Subba Reddy and his wife nor taken any coercive steps against them.
While giving relief to the petitioners, the court also said that the directions shall not have a bearing on the disputes between both parties and made it clear that the police are at liberty to take necessary action in case of any law and order issues or any untoward incidents that might take place and posted the matter to Feb 19.
