HMDA’s zone conversion must benefit farmers: BJP

Hyderabad: The BJP, on Thursday, alleged that the HMDA had altered its master plan to facilitate land sharks and real-estate brokers but ignored the claims of around 50,000 farmers who own land but are unable to construct houses as their land was classified as farmland.

Addressing a press conference, BJP Medchal district president Dr S. Malla Reddy urged the government to review its master plan and create zones facilitating farmers. “The zone conversion, the process of changing land use, should be made easier for farmers who own less than five acres of land in HMDA limits, spread over 7,257 sq. km in seven districts.

The HMDA must coordinate with other local bodies and convert farmlands within outer ring road (ORR) limits into residential zones and provide road access to lands next to the service road of the ORR,” the BJP leader demanded.

Stating that ordinary people have been facing inordinate delays in securing no objection certificates (NOCs) and house construction permits, Malla Reddy urged speedy disposal of applications and complete the service roads in Rajendranagar, Shamshabad, Narsingi, Patancheru, IDA Bolaram, Shambipur and other areas.

He also urged the government to develop a railway network in the open land along the ORR and take steps to set up IT and ITES companies along the ORR.
