A major train accident occurred in Jalgaon, Maharashtra at 4:42 pm on Wednesday evening. Here, rumor spread about fire in Pushpak Express between Maheji and Pardhade near Pachora station. During this time some passenger pulled the chain. The train stopped and frightened passengers jumped. Meanwhile, the Karnataka Express coming on the other track crushed many passengers.
Jalgaon SP has confirmed the death of 11 people. While Special Inspector General of Police Dattatraya Karale informed PTI that 12 bodies were sent to the Civil Hospital.
There are reports of 40 passengers being injured. Official sources of Bhusaval division of Central Railway said that there was a sharp turn at the place where the incident took place. Because of this, the passengers sitting on the other track did not realize the arrival of the train. This was the reason why such a large number of people were crushed by the Karnataka Express.
Central Railway CPRO Swapnil Nila said, the incident site is 400 kilometers away from Mumbai.

12 bodies have been brought to the government hospital in Jalgaon. Of these, 7 have been identified. Among those who died, 9 were men and 3 were women.
Of the 7 identified, 3 were from Nepal.

Smoke came out from the wheels of the train when brakes were applied Train number 12627 Karnataka Express was going from Bengaluru to New Delhi. While Pushpak Express (12533) was going from Lucknow to Mumbai. A senior railway official said that according to preliminary information, sparks arose inside a coach of Pushpak Express due to ‘hot axle’ or ‘brake-binding (jamming)’ and some passengers got scared. They pulled the chain and some of them jumped down.
