Parakram Diwas 2025: Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti, also known as Parakram Diwas or the Day of Valour, is observed annually in India to honour one of India’s esteemed freedom fighters, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

This significant occasion pays tribute to his extraordinary efforts and leadership in the fight for India’s independence, highlighting his enduring legacy and the courage he displayed during challenging periods in history.

Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti 2025: Date and History

Subhas Chandra Bose, born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Orissa, was a nationalist leader who joined the nationalist movement led by Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress in 1921.

After returning from England, he became Congress president in 1938, leading to his multiple attempts to restore India’s independence.

To honour Bose for his efforts in restoring Indian freedom, in 2021, the government announced that 23rd January will be celebrated as ‘Parakram Diwas.’

This year, the day will be observed on January 23, 2025, falling on a Thursday and marking his 128th birth anniversary.

Netaji Jayanti is celebrated to bring about feelings of patriotism in the country’s citizens, especially the youth, and remind them of the sacrifices he made and inspire them to have courage in the face of adversity like Netaji.

This is an official holiday in West Bengal, Tripura, Jharkhand, Assam, and Odishawith the day marked across India, highlighting Netaji’s role in India’s independence through assemblies, parades, and special functions.

This year, in 2025, a grand celebration will take place from January 23-25 at Barabati Fort in Cuttack, honouring Netaji’s legacy in his birthplace, and will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi.
