Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar were among the leaders who recalled the contribution of Subhash Chandra Bose towards the cause of the country on his birth anniversary on Thursday (January 23, 2025)

The birth anniversary of Netaji, as the iconic leader was popularly called, is observed as Parakram Divas (day of valour).

Mr. Modi said Netaji’s contribution to India’s freedom movement is unparalleled. Remembering Bose, the iconic freedom fighter who led the Azad Hind Fauj to fight the British, Mr. Modi said he epitomised courage and grit.

“His vision continues to motivate us as we work towards building the India he envisioned,” the Prime Mnister said.

Bose’s birth anniversary is commemorated as ‘Parakram Diwas’.

Born in 1897, Bose was a charismatic and popular leader who rose to become the president of the Congress but fell out with the party later for his advocacy of a more robust, including the raising of military, to fight India’s colonial rulers.

Similarly, a post on X, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said Bose’s exemplary dedication to India’s Independence and the formation of the Azad Hind Fauj stand as testament to his extraordinary vision and valour.

“Netaji’s valour, nationalistic fervour, and monumental contribution to freeing India from foreign rule continue to inspire countless Indians. He personified selfless devotion to the cause of the motherland,” the Vice President said.

Netaji gave a new energy to freedom struggle: Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday paid tributes to freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary, noting his role in energising India’s independence movement through his leadership.

“’You give me blood, I will give you freedom’ – This great declaration of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose gave a new energy and new direction to the freedom struggle of India,” Mr. Adityanath posted on X.

“Humble tribute to the founder of Azad Hind Fauj, ‘Netaji’ on his birth anniversary and heartfelt wishes of ‘Parakram Diwas’ to the people of the state. Jai Hind!” the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.
