Telangana Secures Rs 60,000 Crore Amazon Investment For Hyderabad Data Centres Expansion, Announces At WEF Davos 2025

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has committed to a massive Rs 60,000 crore investment to expand its data centre operations in Hyderabad, Telangana.

The announcement was made during a meeting between AWS Vice President Michael Punke, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos.

The expansion will solidify Hyderabad’s position as a vital hub for AWS’s cloud services in India, including advancements in artificial intelligence.

AWS had previously announced an investment of $4.4 billion by 2030 to develop its cloud infrastructure in the state, with three operational sites established with a $1 billion investment.

This fresh Rs 60,000 crore commitment reflects AWS’s confidence in Telangana’s business environment.

The Telangana government has agreed to allocate additional land for AWS’s expansion, ensuring smooth implementation of the project.

Hailing this significant development, Chief Minister Reddy said, “We are delighted with the growth of confidence of global businesses like Amazon to make huge investments as never before in our State now. The efforts of the last one year have truly borne fruit. This is Telangana Rising’’ vision at work.”

Minister Sridhar Babu emphasised Hyderabad’s emerging status as the “Data Centre hub of India,” noting this investment cements the city’s leadership in the cloud services sector.
