Vijayawada: For those curious about the wonders of the night sky, Vijayawada Sky Watchers is offering a unique opportunity to witness the 2025 planetary parade.
On Jan 25 and 26, local enthusiasts will have a chance to view six planets through telescopes set up on the Gandhi Hill, said Potina Uma, an organiser.
A planetary parade, also known as a planetary alignment, occurs when several planets from our solar system align in a row as seen from the earth. This rare spectacle will be visible during these two nights, offering skywatchers the chance to observe the celestial event with the aid of advanced telescopes.
The viewing will take place from 7 pm to 9 pm on both dates. There’s no fee to attend. The motive of the event is to encourage public, mainly students, to come out and witness the rare space event.
“This is a perfect chance for the people of Vijayawada to explore the mysteries of space and experience the beauty of the night sky,” said Uma. The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC), which is currently maintaining Gandhi Hill, said that they are planning to set up a telescope at the planetarium to educate and encourage students and science enthusiasts.
