An auto driver was stabbed to death in broad daylight allegedly by a fellow driver near Adalat junction in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, leaving by-standers stunned.
The deceased, Macherla Raj Kumar, aged around 37, who was a resident of Madikonda, was attacked by Enugu Venkateshwarlu, 47, following an altercation between the two.
Venkateshwarlu allegedly stabbed Raj Kumar indiscriminately in the stomach with a knife, despite attempts by by-standers to intervene.
The incident, captured on mobile phones by passers-by, has gone viral on social media. Subedari police arrived at the scene and shifted the body to MGM Hospital in Warangal for autopsy.
While the police are investigating the motive behind the murder, initial reports suggest that the killing was the result of a dispute over a married woman, with whom both Raj Kumar and Venkateshwarlu were allegedly having an extramarital affair.
The accused is in police custody, and further investigations are under way to unravel the circumstances behind the murder.
