Vijayawada: Ajit Singh Nagar police in Vijayawada successfully resolved two missing cases involving four minor girls within a few hours.
The first case came to light on Thursday when the father of a 16-year-old girl filed a missing complaint at 11:30 pm. The girl, a resident of New Rajarajeswaripet and an intermediate student at a private college, did not return home after college. Upon inquiry, her family learned that she, along with two other minor girls—one of whom works at a medical shop and the other also an intermediate student from the same area—went to PVP Mall. The police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Inspector B H Venkateshwarlu and his team immediately reached the scene and began collecting evidence. Vijayawada police commissioner S V Rajasekhar Babu directed the team to prioritise the case and trace the girls as soon as possible. Under DCP G Ramakrishna and North ACP Sravanthi Roy, three special teams were formed to trace the missing girls.
While the investigation was underway, another missing case was reported at around 1:15 am on Friday. The father of a 9-year-old girl, also a resident of New Rajarajeswaripet, reported that his daughter, a Class 3 student, was missing after being reprimanded for not attending school regularly. Inspector Venkateshwarlu registered the second case and formed additional teams to investigate.
Using advanced technology and CCTV footage from the areas where the incidents occurred, the police tracked the movements of the three girls. Based on credible leads, they traced the three missing teenage girls to Tenali in Guntur district. The girls were rescued safely and reunited with their families. Investigations revealed that two of the three girls left their home to meet two youngsters they met on Instagram six months ago. The third girl accompanied the other two. The two boys were taken into custody, and further inquiries are ongoing.
Police are now investigating whether the boys acted alone or were part of a larger network. Investigators are focused on uncovering the intent behind their actions and determining if others were involved in the plan to take the girls out of the city.
In the second case, the police located the 9-year-old girl in an apartment complex in New Rajarajeswaripet. She was found safe and was handed over to her parents. Preliminary investigations revealed that she left home due to emotional distress after being scolded by her father. She was found in a family friend’s house in the same area.
