Revanth seeks Rs 24,269 cr for Metro Rail Ph-2


Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has appealed to Union minister for housing and urban development Manohar Lal Khattar to sanction ₹55,562 crore for development initiatives within Greater Hyderabad limits. The appeal was made during a review meeting on urban development, PMAY (Urban), and power sector, chaired by Khattar, here on Friday.

Highlighting Telangana’s urban growth, Reddy said that the state is home to eight per cent of India’s urban population. He urged Khattar to sanction 20 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, noting that Telangana was the first state to join the scheme.

The state government has comprehensive data and plans ready for implementation. He sought ₹24,269 crore for the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail. He sought ₹10,000 crore for the rejuvenation of Musi river.

Reddy outlined a comprehensive sewerage master plan (CSMP) requiring ₹17,212 crore to develop a sewerage network across Hyderabad and nearby urban areas. He urged the Union Minister to consider the CSMP under AMRUT 2.0 or as a special project.

Reddy sought ₹4,170 crore funding for the comprehensive underground drainage (UGD) project in Warangal. The Chief Minister sought relief for discoms, and their inclusion in the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.

Khattar congratulated Revanth Reddy for securing investments of ₹1.78 lakh crore for Telangana at Davos. Acknowledging the state’s ambition to contribute to India’s $five trillion economy goal, Khattar appreciated Telangana’s aspiration to achieve a $1 trillion economy status.

The meeting was attended by housing minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajendar, and several senior officials from urban development and power departments.
