Three persons were killed and two others critically injured in a road accident near Palakurti village of Kodumuru mandal in Kunrool district on Friday.
The accident occurred when a lorry traveling on the national highway (NH) lost control due to a tyre burst, and rammed into a car traveling alongside it. The victims in the vehicle, identified as Banda Srinivas, Somasekhar, and Srinu — all residents of Kodumuru town — were returning from Kurnool after completing a business related to silk saris.
According to police reports, one person died on the spot, while the other two succumbed to their injuries at the Government Hospital in Kodumuru. The two injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident to determine further details. Preliminary findings mention that the lorry’s tyre burst caused the collision, which resulted in the fatal accident.
