Traffic restrictions imposed for Republic Day, ‘At Home’ reception in Hyderabad

In view of the Republic Day celebrations at Parade Ground and the ‘At Home’ reception at Raj Bhavan on Sunday (January 26), the Hyderabad traffic police issued an advisory for smooth flow of traffic.

Commuters have been advised to avoid the road stretch from Panjagutta to Secunderabad Parade Ground via Greenlands and Begumpet between 7.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. due to expected traffic congestion. The road from Tivoli Junction to Plaza Junction will also be closed during the event.

Traffic congestion is anticipated at several key locations, including Sangeeth, YMCA, Patny and SBI X roads, Plaza, CTO junction, Brook Bond junction, Tivoli Junction, Sweekar Upakar junction, Secunderabad Club, Tadbund junction, Rasoolpura, Begumpet, Paradise, Monappa and V.V. Statue junction. Commuters have been advised to avoid MG Road, RP Road, and SD Road during the same period.

The police said passengers travelling by train or bus should start early to reach Secunderabad Railway Station and Jubilee Bus Station in time to avoid any inconvenience.

Several diversions will be implemented based on traffic conditions. Traffic from Begumpet towards Sangeeth junction will be diverted at CTO junction via Balamrai, Brook Bond, Tivoli, and Sweekar Upakar, leading to YMCA and St John’s Rotary. While those travelling from Karkhana and JBS towards SBI and Patny will be diverted at Sweekar Upakar towards YMCA, Clock Tower, and Patny or via Tivoli and Balamrai to CTO Junction. Commuters from RP Road towards SBI Junction will be rerouted at Patny Junction towards Paradise.

In addition, traffic moving from Sangeeth junction towards Begumpet will be redirected at YMCA towards Clock Tower, Patny, Paradise, CTO junction and Rasoolpura.

During the ‘At Home’ reception at Raj Bhavan between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., traffic from Shadan College will be diverted at VV Statue towards Panjagutta and Khairatabad flyover, while traffic from Panjagutta and Begumpet towards Raj Bhavan will be diverted at Monappa junction.

Specific arrangements have been made for guests attending the ‘At Home’ function at Raj Bhavan. Invitees holding pink car passes will enter through Gate I and exit via Gate II, while those with white car passes will enter through Gate III, alight in front of the New Guest House, and exit through the GS Gate.

Parking for white pass holders will be available at Raj Bhavan Quarters by-lane, Sumskruthi Community Hall, Government School, Government Nursing College and Raj Bhavan Post Office building.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police have urged the public to cooperate with the arrangements and use alternative routes to reach their destinations without disruptions.
