HYDERABAD: In a suspected case of gangrape and murder, a partially burnt body of an unidentified woman, in her late 30s, was found in an underpass of the Outer Ring Road on the outskirts of Medchal town on Friday. Alerted by locals, police rushed to the spot and started a probe.
“We are not ruling out any aspect in the case, and special teams have already been deputed to trace the identity of the victim and also the killers at the earliest,” said Medchal DCP N Koti Reddy.
Police said the woman could have been lured to the crime spot, where she was murdered by hitting her head with a boulder. From the crime scene, it appears that the killers set her saree on fire in an attempt to burn the body.
On her left hand, there is a tattoo with the names of Narendra and Rohith in English and Srikanth in Telugu. Police also found toe rings, a chain, and ring. Police are also verifying nearby toddy compounds, bus stations, and railway stations for any clues about the victim by circulating the pictures from the spot and her belongings.
