16,565 Landless Labourers Identified under Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa Scheme in Karimnagar District

As many as 16,565 eligible landless labourers of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) have been identified under the government’s flagship Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa scheme in the gram sabhas so far in the district, said Karimnagar District Collector Pamela Satpathy.

She said the government launched the scheme to provide ₹12,000 a year to landless labourers in the State. Those who worked for at least 20 days under the MGNREGS have been selected under the scheme with the approval of the gram sabhas.

Lending a helping hand to farmers, the government on Sunday embarked on implementation of the Rythu Bharosa scheme to provide an annual investment support of ₹12,000 an acre, she noted.

She added that around 40,000 people had applied for new ration cards and changes in the existing ration cards during the grama/ward sabhas held across the district so far. The new ration cards will be issued after the scrutiny of the applications.

Around 2.10 lakh people had applied for Indiramma Illu (houses) all over the district. Indiramma houses will be sanctioned to all eligible poor people.

To promote cultivation of the fine variety of rice, the government is providing a bonus of ₹500 a quintal of the rice. About 72,132 quintals of the fine variety of paddy was procured from 11,901 farmers and a bonus to the tune of ₹33.12 crore was deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers, she added.

The District Collector also listed various development and welfare schemes besides a series of initiatives being implemented by the government for sustainable and inclusive development.
