Guntur: Stating that the proposed big-ticket infrastructure works in the city will take Guntur to the list of elite cities very soon, Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) commissioner Puli Srinivasulu informed that timely completion of the projects is high on their agenda.
Addressing the Republic Day parade in NTR stadium on Sunday, Srinivasulu said that they have launched several road, drinking water, drainage construction and maintenance works worth Rs 115 crore during 2024-25. He said they have also started works worth Rs 3.9 crore to repair the existing roads and works worth Rs 2.73 crore are being taken up under N-cap scheme. “Centre granted RoB with Rs 98 crore at Sankar Vilas junction thanks to the support of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and union minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar. This project is going to be a game-changer in the city’s infrastructure development,” said Srinivasulu.
He explained that they have decided to widen Lalupuram road, Reddipalem road and Basavatharakaram Nagar road as per the master plan. He added that steps would be taken to create vending zones in the city to regulate street vendors from occupying main roads. He said that they have deployed additional staff in public health department to effectively manage sanitation in the city.
