Hyderabad marks 76th Republic Day with patriotic fervour-Telangana Today


Patriotic songs echoed through the communities and people got together and decked their streets with tri-colour flags

Hyderabad: The city buzzed with patriotic fervour as Hyderabadis from all walks of life gathered to mark the 76th Republic Day on Sunday. Residential welfare associations, government and private offices, schools, colleges and universities unfurled the national flag on their respective premises.

As dawn broke, patriotic songs echoed through the streets, and communities. People got together and decked their streets with tri-colour flags. In almost all colonies, the tricolour was unfurled with enthusiasm with people in large numbers taking part. Sweets and savouries were distributed at every corner.

Schools, colleges and universities also marked the occasion with unfurling of the national flag in their respective institutions besides organising cultural programmes and prize distribution for students who won in cultural, sport and games.

OU Vice Chancellor Prof Kumar Molugaram, unfurled the national flag at Arts College, while at JNTU-Hyderabad in-charge Vice Chancellor Prof V Balakista Reddy unfurled the tri-colour.

After unfurling the national flag, EFLU Vice Chancellor (in-charge) Prof Haribandi Lakshmi paid rich tributes to the architects of the Indian Constitution. PJTAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Aladas Janaiah unfurled the national flag near the administrative building.

Different wings of the government and even private and corporate offices too held events on the occasion.
