Manda Krishna Madiga, who has been selected for the Padma Shri award in the Public Affairs category, led the public movement for categorisation of reservations of Scheduled Castes seeking more opportunities for the Madiga community and its sub-castes among the SC category.
Mr. Krishna Madiga is the founder of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) that has become an integral part of Telangana politics since 1999. He tried his luck in the electoral politics a few times but didn’t succeed. However, he emerged as a face of the SC reservations categorisation across the country. His efforts didn’t go in vain as the Supreme Court cleared the road for SC categorisation with some conditions.
