The 76th Republic Day was celebrated at the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Sunday, with the Administrative Judge of the High Court Bench Justice M.S. Ramesh unfurling the national flag.
Justice Ramesh garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the court premises and he along with other judges of the High Court offered floral tributes to the statue. Following the unfurling of the national flag, Justice Ramesh inspected the Guard of Honour and took the salute presented by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The children of advocates and court staff enthralled the audience with their syambam skills. They also showcased their talent in cultural programmes. The CISF personnel demonstrated various skills and combat techniques including dismantling and assembling firearms blindfolded. They formed a human pyramid and raised the national flag. They also demonstrated self-defence techniques.
A blood donation camp was organised as part of the Republic Day celebrations. The High Court judges, Registry officials, advocates, court staff and family members participated in the event.
Principal District and Sessions Judge S. Sivakadatcham unfurled the national flag on the Madurai District Court premises in the presence of the district court judges, advocates and court staff.
