Nawabpet police officials have arrested a 21-year-old man who brutally murdered his lover’s father. He has reportedly killed the man for rejecting the marriage with his daughter after engagement.
Revealing the case details to the media at a press meet on Monday, Nawabpet CI Shaik Anwar Bhasha said, “Shaik Mahaboob Basha (53) used to live with his family in Srinivas Nagar, Nellore. A young man named Shaik Shahid from the same area loved Mahaboob Basha’s daughter, who initially rejected his love but accepted it later. They both were engaged in May 2024.”
“When Mahaboob Basha came to know about Shahid’s bad habits and criminal record, he cancelled the engagement. Feeling insulted, Shahid has developed a grudge against him. Several times, Shahid threatened to kill Basha if he conducts his daughter’s marriage with anyone else. As per a plan, he stabbed Bhasha with a knife in Srinivas Nagar on Saturday (January 25th) evening.”
Bhasha was immediately admitted to a hospital but he died. His body was sent to Nellore Government General Hospital for post mortem. Based on the complaint from deceased man’s wife Shaik Karimunnisa, the Nawabpet police registered a case against Shahid under Section 103 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), arrested him and produced him in the court on Monday.
