RAJAHMUNDRY: Tourism department in Andhra Pradesh will be developed through P4 model, minister for tourism, culture and cinematography, Kandula Durgesh said here today.
He informed that Regional Tourism Investors Engagement will be held in Visakhapatnam at 10 am on 27 th of this month and called the investors to participate in the conclave. He expressed that investors from North Andhra districts will attend.
Addressing the media, Kandula Durgesh said that the development of tourism will be developed through Public, Private, People’s Partnership in the state. He mentioned that tourism circuits and anchor hubs will be set up to attract tourists. He reminded that proposals have been received from 200 investors in the tourism summit took place in Vijayawada in December, 2024. He further said that tourism investor’s summit will be conducted in the month of February and added that waivers will be given for the investors who are having land in single window system.
Speaking further, the minister said that the companies like Taj, Oberoi and IRCTC came forward to invest in the state and MOU has been signed with IRCTC. He mentioned that Oberoi has agreed to invest in five places in the state. He explained that the chief minister and the deputy chief minister are making efforts to get forest and environmental clearances to develop tourist spots like rampa Chodavaram, maredumilli and Taida near Araku valley.
The minister said that the chief minister is in favour of developing tourism in the riverfront in Amaravati and major tourist project will be set up in Amaravati with Rs 500 crore with the cooperation of the centre. Besides temple tourism which thrived in the state, he said that adventure, Eco, Wellness, heritage, religious, agri, medical, cruise, beach and tent tourism will be developed in the state. With Rs 177 crore which were sanctioned under central government scheme, he said that Akhanda Godavari and Gandikota will be developed and tenders will be called in couple of days for Akhanda Godavari project. He further said that DPRs have been sent to the centre to develop Suryalanka beach with Rs 100 crore.
The minister said that number of investors is coming forward as tourism has been declared as industry and waivers are being given to the tourism industry. In the new tourism police 2025-29, he said that the tourism centers’ will be transformed as anchor hubs.
