The iconic Renault Duster SUV is returning to India in all-new avatar early next year. However, the French automaker has decided to skip its second-generation model and is ready to bring the third-generation Duster to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos. Last year, the brand previewed the India-spec Duster via teaser image, featuring slightly different styling than the global-spec version. The teaser flaunted its redesigned headlamps and revised front bumper.

Renault Duster 4X4 Powertrain:

Recently, the global-spec new Duster 4X4 version was caught testing with the petrol mild hybrid powertrain. It’s essentially the off-road focused version of the SUV will be offered with two powertrain options – petrol hybrid and petrol LPG. The former setup will include a 1.2L ECO-G engine paired to a 48V MHEV technology and 4X4 system. The LPG version will be capable of running on petrol-LPG fuel and deliver a maximum power of 150bhp. It will also consist of a 48V electric motor. Transmission duties will be performed by a DCT (dual-clutch transmission) automatic unit.

India-Spec Renault Duster Engine Options:

Powertrain details of the India-spec new Renault Duster are not available at this point. However, the reports suggest that SUV might be offered with the 1.3L HR13 turbo petrol engine, pushing out a peak power of 156bhp. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine might also be borrowed from the Kiger. Additionally, there will be a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine for the entry-level variants. One must note that Renault India has no intention of reintroducing a diesel engine.

Expected Features:

Based on the CMF-B platform, the new Renault Duster is expected to come with features such as a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a circular dial for a 4WD selector, a three-spoke steering wheel, a 6-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system, ADAS suite, wireless phone charging, multiple airbags and more.

7-Seater, & Electric Duster

Renault will also introduce a three-row version of the new Duster to challenge the cars like Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. Additionally, the electric iteration of the Duster is also under the development, which is expected to debut in 2030-2031.
