Hyderabad: The one-man judicial commission constituted by the state govt on sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes (SCs) is likely to submit its report in Feb.
The commission headed by former judge of Telangana high court, Justice Shameem Akthar, which has completed touring all districts for receiving petitions from the people, is now collecting empirical data from govt departments regarding the economic and educational status of Dalits in the state.
Officials said the commission has asked 28 govt departments to provide data on SC employees’ cadre strength and present employee numbers. It has also sought information on welfare schemes such as Dalit Bandhu, scholarships for students etc.
Based on the data, the commission will compile economic and educational status to determine backwardness and recommend sub-categorisation.
