Several industries and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in the city celebrated the 76th Republic Day with patriotic fervour on Sunday.
RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, celebrated the 76th Republic Day on the Trishna grounds at Ukkunagaram. A.K. Bagchi, Director (Projects) & Additional Charge Director (Operations), RINL, attended as the chief guest and unfurled the national flag.
He said, “RINL continues to have the lowest water consumption in the Indian Steel Industry. Though we are passing through tough times, we can achieve greater results with proper planning and team work.”
Visakhapatnam Port Authority Chairman M. Angamuthu said that the port set a goal of 90 million tons for the current financial year. The ongoing projects in the pipeline are worth ₹2,000 crore, he said.
HPCL Visakh Refinery executive director R. Ramakrishnan unfurled the flag and received the Guard of Honour from the CISF of Visakh Refinery, led by Hrishabh Dewangan, Deputy Commandant. He presented service awards to 81 employees. Chief general manager (HR) G. Kiran Kumar presided over.
Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) managing director and CEO Durgesh Kumar Dubey said that the company would have growth with the introduction of an indigenously built 12,000 hopper capacity beagle series dredger, named Godavari.
Abraham Varughese, Outstanding Scientist & Director, NSTL, remembered the patriotic heroes who are behind the formulation of the Constitution of India. He appealed NSTL fraternity to follow the steps of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and to commit towards achieving Viksit Bharat by developing state-of-the-art indigenous underwater weapons to Indian Navy.

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sasibhushana Rao unfurled the national flag at the AU campus here, urging the students to adopt the best principles of the freedom fighters.
Visakha Valley School principal Eshwari Prabhakar said that the Republic Day was celebrated with the active participation of the students with patriotic fervour. Asish Viswakarma, commandant of CRPF, who attended as the chief guest, urged the students to work for the security and peace of the nation.
CREDAI Visakhapatnam unit took up a blood donation camp where 40 units of blood were collected from the volunteers.
